our services building professional, productive websites for companies and organisations looking to maximise their online presence

web design from Creative-i-design"Web design" covers a huge range of different disciplines, and there are so many different types of website that it's almost impossible to cover all the bases. From a simple, static set of pages, through to interactive sites, eCommerce and large directories. There's even something called Web 2.0.

Nobody's an expert in every technical discipline, so Creative-i-Design's team members specialise in different areas. We've got Flash gurus, eCommerce guys, database nerds, integration geeks and one freelancer who just sits in a dark room writing code all day. We've also created our own top-down structured development process, ensuring everything's transparent, measurable and trackable.

web designWhat all that means is that our clients get the best skills, combined with effective project management and quality control. So their sites are delivered on time and to budget. And our clients are invariably thrilled with the results. Not only that, but we aim to deliver a fast return on investment.

So talk to us about what you want, challenge us to give you a winning proposal, and see what we come up with.

graphic designGraphic design services from Creative-i-Design

Getting everything just right doesn't just mean bunging a few images onto a screen and sticking a phone number at the bottom. It's vital that your website puts across a professional image and reflects you and your organisation.

The layout, images and text need to balance out. If you've ever looked at a site that's been thrown together by an amateur, you'll know exactly what we mean.

Creative-i-Design works with our clients to create the right design for the right requirements. Page layouts are just the start, and if you've got a corporate brochure and brand identity, we'll create a graphic design that works on-screen, not just on paper. Our graphic design team will work alongside your marketing staff (if you've got them) to create the right design for your new site. And if you don't have a marketing team, we'll do it all for you.

Take a look at our portfolio to see the sites we've already created for clients, and you'll get an idea of our abilities.

Database-driven websites from Creative-i-Design

database designComplex websites require deeper thinking, and Creative-i-Design has some very big brains. When your business requirements call for something that's a little more than just a few static pages, we're here to help.

"Dynamic" sites build individual pages from a common source - a database - and deliver the information to the user in an attractive, attention-grabbing format. Creative-i-Design's specialists are experts at bringing information to the screen in the best way possible, and can provide you with login-protected content if your business demands it.

database designOur database team just does databases. Nothing else. They can work alongside your own IT team to integrate your systems with the website, ensuring that the website delivers accurate, up-to-date, useful information to you, when and where you need it. So as your customers and prospects interact with the website, you're gathering valuable information. That reduces your cost of sale, saves your time and delivers results. Whether it's an online directory or an interactive customer experience, an information delivery system or information gathering, talk to us about your requirements and Creative-i-Design will put together a solution that meets your needs and your budget.

What are you selling?

ecommerceWhether it's widgets, soft toys, cars, light bulbs, pet supplies, party accessories, books or boats, Creative-i-Design can create the ideal eCommerce application for your needs.

ecommerce from Creative-i-DdesignYour online shop can be as simple or complex as your requirements - if you have only a few products, we can build you a simple website in a matter of a week or so. If you need a full-blown shop, we can do that too, although it might take a little longer. Our record is eight days, but we'd prefer to take our time!

Creative-i-Design's eCommerce sites integrate seamlessly with all the leading online payment systems, such as WorldPay for larger users, and PayPal or Google Checkout for smaller users. We also provide a full interface with your own stock control, order management and distribution systems. If you don't have your own, we can build them in for you.

Sounds complicated? It is, but that's our problem, not yours. Just tell us exactly what you want and leave us to do the rest.

Keeping your website up to date

cmsSo, you've got the perfect website. It reflects you and your organisation exactly as you want it, but what about tomorrow, next week, or next month?

It's vital to keep your site up to date, not just with the latest product or service information, but also pricing and news. With a regularly updated website, visitors will keep coming back (it's called "stickiness") and your business grows. Creative-i-Design gives you the choice of updating the site yourself or our doing it for you.

cmsIt doesn't take too much work: a Content Management System (CMS for short) offers a simple way to get all the updates you need online quickly and without fuss. You don't need to be a technical wizard, either: if you can use Microsoft Word, you can use Adobe Contribute, a straightforward updating package.

And for more complex sites, we build a menu-driven CMS into the site itself, so all you need to do is log in to the administrator's area and make your own selections. CMS is a core part of all the sites that Creative-i-Design builds: it empowers you and your staff to take control over your own website and drive your business forward.

maintenanceMaintaining and refreshing your website

maintenanceKeeping your website up to date doesn't just involve adding news stories from time to time. You need to keep the look and feel up to date as well.

As times change, so do designs and trends. Your website needs to reflect those changes - there's nothing worse than looking at a website that has the latest information on-screen, but displays it in a dated format.

At Creative-i-Design we keep tabs on the very latest trends so you don't have to. We schedule regular review meetings with our clients to advise them on changes to designs and layouts, and whether they're necessary. And if you're thinking of re-branding, talk to us at the same time.

If you plan on introducing a new logo, corporate colour scheme or identity, then let us know and we'll incorporate them into the site for you, meaning your site stays sharp.

seo"I want my site on page one of Google"

If you've invested time and money in your new website, it would be a real shame if nobody saw it. Of course you're going to tell your customers and prospects about it, but what about all the people you haven't met yet?

Search Engine Optimisation (technical geeks call it SEO) means making your site as visible as possible to the likes of Google. It's a complex process of coding, visibility and keyword matching. We know most of the variables that Google uses to rank a site, but they don't tell anyone the weighting they give to each element, so it's something of a black art.

seoCreative-i-Design has SEO specialists who work alongside our coders before, during and after your site goes live to make sure that you have the best possible chance to hit that top spot on Google. Nobody can guarantee a top ranking (if they do, don't trust them), but we've got a great track record of delivering excellent results. And yes, some of our clients are on page one of Google - ask us and we'll show you.

Some of our clients ask us about paid-for advertising on search engines, and our SEO specialists can advise you on the most effective way to allocate your advertising budget. We can set up a Google AdWords campaign and give you control over your daily, weekly or monthly spend as you see fit, so it won't break the bank. Whatever your business and whatever the marketplace you're working in, let us know and we'll support you to maximise your marketing objectives.

consultancy"What are my options?"

It's tough to get a clear picture of what you can do online and what your options are. People in our industry tend to fill conversations with jargon and abbreviations, and it can be hard to make sense of what they're telling you. Creative-i-Design has a proven track record in working with clients to help them maximise their options, even if they're using alternative design teams. And we speak plain English, not gobbledygook.

consultancyFor our consultancy clients, we work as their own experts - on their side and batting their corner - to act as an interface with the development team. We can recommend, advise or simply ask the right questions.

We're flexible, adaptable and challenging - if you're looking for a negotiator to get the best deal possible, we've done that; if you need to re-evaluate your online strategy, we've done that too. If you want to step up a gear or challenge your competitors, Creative-i-Design can advise you of the options that will open new doors for your organisation.

The best option is to sit down and talk to us. We promise you straight talking and no jargon.

web hostingWeb hosting from Creative-i-Design

Once your site has been completed, we need to put it somewhere so it's visible to other users. That's where web hosting comes in. We don't host sites ourselves, but leave it to the professionals, getting you the best, most appropriate deal at the time.

Creative-i-Design doesn't resell these services. To be honest, we'd probably make about £1 from an annual hosting deal and it's not really worth it. So instead we just manage the whole process for you and pass on any direct costs.

We'll always spell out exactly what's involved and what the costs will be - a relatively straightforward site isn't particularly expensive.

In many cases we use WebFusion from Pipex. They're one of the largest hosting companies in the country and they have an experienced, knowledgeable technical support team in West London on 24-hour standby in case anything goes pear-shaped. So you can be assured of a high-quality, high-speed service.

If you'd like to talk to us about hosting your site, give us a call and we'll give you the good news.

domain namesDomain names from Creative-i-Design

Buying a domain name is one of the cheapest aspects of getting your website established. The costs aren't high (around £25 for a .com and £8 for a .co.uk), so if you can afford it, we usually suggest you get both. If you do, they can both point to the same website.

There are domains for individual countries (.co.uk for the UK, .fr for France, .it for Italy, etc) and domains that are international (.com for companies, .gov for government, .org for non-profit organisations, etc). To get a full run-down of your domain options, ask us.

This is a pretty complete list of all the currently available domains. Realistically, most of us are only interested in the generic and UK ones, but if you need something specific or you have a world-wide project and need to protect your brand identity across many borders, Creative-i-Design can help you.

web design for charities building professional, productive websites for companies and organisations looking to maximise their online presence

charityHere at Creative-i-Design we're committed to an ethical working policy. From the start we tithed our business income to local charities.

Then it occurred to us that charging a registered charity full price, then giving 10% of it away, was pretty dumb.

So, we had a think about how we could make this a bit easier, and we came up with this:

Any organisation that's registered with The Charity Commission gets a 10% discount directly from us.

This gives you an opportunity to have a professional site which gets your message to the widest possible audience, at the same time protecting your income.

charity web sitesThat doesn't mean we skimp - you still get the very best service possible and we look after you as we would any client. You just pay a little bit less.

About a third of our customers are registered charities, ranging from small, local campaign groups to larger, international relief organisations. We're delighted to work with them, delivering a strong message to their target audience.

To find out more about the service we offer to our charitable clients, take a look at our portfolio or drop us a line.

faq building professional, productive websites for companies and organisations looking to maximise their online presence

Yes, there's lots of technical detail and it can be very complicated. However, that's our problem, not yours. At Creative-i-Design, we handle the technology and leave you to get on with your work.

When we get started we'll sit down with you and map out what we need from you (usually text, images and logos) so you're absolutely clear what you need to provide, when and how long the project will take to complete. And you'll get regular updates throughout the project so you know exactly where you are at all times.

Buying a domain name is one of the cheapest elements of getting your website established. The costs aren't high (around £25 for a .com and £8 for a .co.uk) so if you can afford it, we usually suggest you get both. If you do, they can both point to the same website.

There are domains for individual countries (.co.uk for the UK, .eu for Europe, .fr for France, .it for Italy, etc) and domains that are international (.com for companies, .gov for government, .org for non-profit organisations, etc). There are hundreds of different domains, most of them country-specific. Pretty much every country has one and some (such as .tv for Tuvalu) are sold for particular business sectors.

This can be a problem: you risk paying over the odds to get "your" domain name back. Some companies buy up lots of domains in the hope of forcing companies to reclaim their brand identity, and sometimes real companies with similar names get there first. If you're a limited company and the domain name is the same as your company name, you've got a reasonable chance of being able to get your hands on the domain.

Sometimes you might have to go to law and the courts will usually find against the domain squatter, but it can be a long and expensive process.

If you find yourself in this situation, give Creative-i-Design a call and we'll talk through your options.

Yes, it's very easy.

You typically buy a domain for a couple of years, so you have to renew your registration every so often. Creative-i-Design registers domains for many of our customers and we hold them in our client account, so we keep tabs on when the renewals are due and manage the whole process for you (there are a few scams out there, so it's worth being careful).

Creative-i-Design doesn't charge extra for this service - we just pass on the registration costs.

Getting your website online doesn't have to take forever, but it's one of those "How long is a piece of string?" questions. If you have a clear idea of what you want on your site, then we can give you a fairly good idea of timescales.

Be careful if a designer tells you they can get you online in a matter of hours or days - they're either very, very idle (in which case, ask yourself why) or they're using a bog-standard template, which means that your site will look like everyone else's.

Creative-i-Design builds sites from scratch, so your design will be unique to you. That might mean we take a few days longer, but it's worth it in the end.

There are a couple of elements that you should be aware of when you set out to get your organisation online for the first time:

  • Your domain name (such as www.yourname.com) needs to be registered with a domain hosting company.
  • The website files need to be located with a web hosting company. How much you'll pay depends on the size of the site and the amount of traffic it'll generate (the number of visitors).
  • Your email (me@yourname.com) needs to be organised so that you can send and receive your mail on your own machine in a format that you're used to.

Creative-i-Design will advise you on all these elements and we can manage the whole process to make everything as simple as possible.

No, we use the best service at the time to get the best deal for you. We tend to stick with the larger hosting organisations, as they can provide the price, fast access, high availability and resilience that a smaller hosting company couldn't possibly compete with.

We'll manage the process for you, so you don't need to. When we give you a proposal, we'll tell you exactly what the likely hosting charges will be.

Yes!

Smaller organisations can have a set of unique email addresses which they can pick up from different computers, while larger organisations might use an Exchange Server to manage their business-wide email systems.

Creative-i-Design will handle this as part of the project. If you already have a list of the email addresses you want, let us know and we'll make sure it's dealt with as part of the project.

If you've already invested in design and branding, we'll use that identity online as well. Creative-i-Design can work with your design company to get it just right, or if you have the files yourself, we can use those.

Your brand identity is vitally important. Creative-i-Design often works alongside marketing teams to create a logo which best reflects you and your organisation. We also have professional, in-house graphic design expertise to give you a seamless, integrated service.

Yes!

Creative-i-Design can retain the elements you like and bring a site's design up to date, add to it, re-edit the content and bring in new imagery. The extent of the re-design is entirely up to you - we can make subtle changes to bring in new elements, or completely revamp the whole design.

Creative-i-Design already looks after a number of corporate clients on an ongoing basis, adding updates, news stories and product changes when required. If you'd like to make use of this service, let us know and we'll make sure to include it in the design proposal.

Of course. Once the site is completed, we'll give you a CD of the complete site - all the files and all the working documents. If you want to do any additional work yourself, everything you'll need is on that CD. We also provide Content Management Systems that allow you to make the changes yourself, and they're geared to the non-technical user. Creative-i-Design can arrange to install them and train your team.

It's something of a challenge, as search engines like Google don't publish the criteria they use for ranking a website. However, there several strategies which Creative-i-Design can advise you on, including Search Engine Optimisation, key words and site submissions.

Absolutely. You should consider your website to be one element of your online marketing: social media such as Facebook, Twitter, blogs and similar will update much more regularly, and they will each feed visitors to your site and to you. We'll give you a run-down of your integration options and you can decide how much (or how little) you want to do.

about Creative-i-Design building professional, productive websites for companies and organisations looking to maximise their online presence

about Creative-i-DesignCreative-i-Design started out as PC's Design, the brainchild of company founder Philip Cave. With the growth of the business, the company was re-branded as Creative-i-Design in early 2008.

Back in 2000, Philip needed a website and set about creating his own. He discovered a flair for both graphic design and coding, and PC's Design was born.

Colleagues began asking Philip to build sites for them and he rapidly gained a reputation for providing effective, professional websites. With a commercial, rather than a technical background, Philip never talks technology with his clients: it's a frighteningly dull subject, and his clients are almost always business people, so they're looking for a business solution to a business problem.

As the business grew, Philip began to take on external project workers. This carries potential risks, so he introduced top-down project management & quality control, and ensured that he only employed specialists who could offer long-term client continuity.

about Creative-i-DesignCreative-i-Design has operated an ethical policy from the start: not only do we give 10% of our business income to charity each year, we also give a 10% discount to any registered charity clients.

Creative-i-Design's philosophy is
"To deliver professional, creative, easy-to-use websites which fit the client's needs and budget, and deliver a return on investment."
